Brief Intro

The hydrocyclone is a device that separates and removes heavy coarse-grained silt and other substances in sewage. It mainly performs sorting operations such as classification, desliming, concentration and dehydration of ore pulp. It can be applied to mineral processing plants including coal mines and tailings dry discharge. In the paper industry, construction industry, thermal power plant, chemical industry and other industrial sectors are also widely used. It often forms a closed-circuit ring grinding device with a ball mill as fine grinding and grading equipment in beneficiation plants. The classification efficiency is high, and very fine overflow products can be obtained.

Wear-resistant Material


Feed holes, barrels and grit chambers are usually lined with polyurethane, ceramic, silicon carbide or cast stone diabase to reduce wear and to be replaced when worn.

Discharge Of Overflow And Grit


The best working condition of the cyclone is that the grit is ejected in an umbrella shape. The angle of the umbrella surface should not be too large, it is better to just spread it out. When used for concentration, grit discharges in the form of a rope with the highest concentration. When used for dewatering, the grit is discharged in the largest umbrella shape, and the overflow has the least solid content.

Hydrocyclones Working Principle

The strong centrifugal force is used to separate the mixture under high-speed rotation. The two-phase or three-phase mixed liquid to be separated enters the hydrocyclone from the supply port under a certain pressure, resulting in a strong three-dimensional elliptical strong rotational shear turbulent movement. Due to the particle size difference between coarse particles and fine particles, they are affected by centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy, fluid drag, etc., and are affected by centrifugal sedimentation. Most of the coarse particles are heavy minerals, which are discharged through the bottom outlet of the external vortex of the hydrocyclone. The other part of the fine particles are light minerals, which are discharged from the overflow pipe at the bottom of the inner vortex, so as to achieve the purpose of separation and classification.

When used for dehydration, the sinking sand is discharged with the largest umbrella, and the overflow contains the least solid amount.
